Planning and Scheduling Association)
IPPSA has been established as an educational association to expand the knowledge of advanced planning and scheduling technology among manufacturing companies. The demand for accurate schedules, short cycle times and predictable delivery dates has elevated planning and scheduling to a paramount position of importance for manufacturing companies. However, most companies have not taken action to become informed about modern scheduling technologies. IPPSA supports manufacturing companies by offering various educational venues.
Companies and individuals are invited to join and support IPPSA by becoming sponsors or members. Vendor participation is also invited; however, IPPSA will remain independent of influence that is not in the interest of the user community.
Mission Statement
IPPSA is dedicated to improving manufacturing production performance and profitability through the collection and dissemination of advanced planning and scheduling technology. IPPSA aims to close the gap that exists between scheduling theory and current manufacturing practice.
Objectives and Activities
- Conduct educational planning and scheduling seminars and work shops.
- Establish procedures for making a transition from infinite to finite scheduling.
- Establish planning and scheduling performance parameters.
- Promote the integration of Material and Capacity Management.
- Provide career services for job openings in the industry.
- Create and maintain a dictionary on advanced scheduling terminology.
- Raise awareness of production improvement benefits available from FCS and APS systems.
Non-Member Services
Seminars and Workshops
IPPSA conducts planning and scheduling seminars and workshops to educate and train manufacturing management and operational personnel. Public seminars will be scheduled throughout the world and the schedule and location of seminars will be posted and regularly updated. It is not necessary to be an IPPSA member to attend seminars or workshops. Persons interested in a seminar at a location near you are requested to notify IPPSA. Members Services
IPPSA Publications
This section will post articles about advanced planning and scheduling technology. Articles may be contributed by IPPSA, IPPSA members or credible articles from other sources. Members are requested to submit articles they consider of value. The publication committee will revue the articles and determine which articles will be posted.
Career Services
Career Services will facilitate bringing together companies with employment positions for advanced planning and scheduling with prospective employees. IPPSA will not function as an employment agency, only as a networking venue to assist companies find qualified persons in the field. Companies will pay a small fee to list openings. Contact IPPSA for more details.
Dictionary
It is the purpose of the Definitions Committee to provide Association members, Production Planning and Scheduling system suppliers, and system application users with a standard statement for the meaning of words, acronyms, and phrases that are used in the domain of production planning and scheduling, particularly as applied to Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) and Finite Capacity Scheduling (FCS). The dictionary will be an ongoing process and is an important section of the website. Terms defined in the dictionary are open to be debated by members in an effort to get a consensus from a large knowledgeable group of planning and scheduling practitioners. Please submit corrections, additions or new terms to IPPSA via email.
Recommended Books
The Book Committee will search for books of interest related to production planning and scheduling. Members are requested to advice IPPSA about books they consider relevant, the committee will determine which books will be posted on the website.
Reviews
The Review section provides members a medium to post their opinion about content on the website and/or submit opinions about reviews posted by other members. This offers members a facility to communicate planning and scheduling information and opinions to all members.
Sponsors
Companies are invited to make contributions to assist in supporting the association and the IPPSA website. A formal program will be developed in the future for companies that assist the association and companies will be listed as sponsors and benefit by reduced rates for seminars and work shops.
